MLK Day
Under the leadership of BAM VP Coco Killingsworth, I twice directed this celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In 2021, we were fully digital and the broadcast included music from PJ Morton and Tarriana “Tank” Ball as well as an amazing keynote from Black Lives Matter founder Alicia Garza. In 2022, I directed a mix of live performance and live broadcast. We had a remarkable keynote from Dr. Imani Perry, an and an inspiring musical performance from Nona Hendryx. We also premiered a dance film that I directed of Kyle Marshall’s tour de force, “King”.
